In 1939 five African American men were arrested for sitting in Alexandria’s whites-only library. Rose Dawson will speak about this event and how the Alexandria Library system commemorating its 80th anniversary. The Alexandria Library received the John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award for its commemoration of this event.
